Golf Day and Dinner
Thursday 20 February
Tee off for another success!
On Thursday, 20th February 2020, Trish Foundation Board member Niall King OAM led and conducted his fourteenth Golf Day and Dinner at Strathfield Golf Club. Niall’s vision, passion and commitment created another hugely successful fundraiser for the Trish Foundation.
Supported by the Rotary Club of Strathfield, Niall’s special fundraiser was a day and evening of great camaraderie, with Niall working extremely hard to attract very generous support – no mean feat given most people had spent their charity dollars supporting the Bushfire Relief Charities.
The Trish Foundation’s deepest appreciation is extended to Niall, his fellow organisers Ray Wilson OAM and Geoff Thoroughgood OAM and also to President Arie Pappas, Rod McDougall and Joe Saad, Rotary Club of Strathfield, as well as the very generous Sponsors, donors and supporters who contributed to the success of the event and the funds raised for MS Research Projects.
John Leftwich did a superb, professional job as Master of Ceremonies again giving his valuable time and skills to ensure supporters enjoyed a great evening.
Highlights of the evening were speeches by the inaugural CEO of MS Research Australia, Trish Foundation Board member Jeremy Wright and Richard Bergman who was Chairman of MS Research Australia at that time. Both gentlemen gave inspiring speeches, speaking about the remarkable progress which has been achieved in MS research. The International Progressive MS Alliance was also highlighted by Richard Bergman, following which John Leftwich facilitated a very informative and enlightening Q & A session.
“Niall did an outstanding job conducting his Golf Day and Dinner. He is a very valued Board member of the Trish Foundation. We are greatly indebted to Niall and to the Rotary Club of Strathfield. Niall’s Golf Days and Dinners, the first being in 2002, have raised over half a million dollars for the Trish Foundation’s research, a huge boost to our funds for research,” said Foundation Director Roy Langsford. “The Foundation’s deepest gratitude also goes to the very generous Sponsors, donors and supporters, each of whom generously contributed to the funds raised for MS Research Projects.”
“Every dollar raised on the day goes to our great researchers for their work in conquering this insidious disease,” Niall King said. “This work gives hope that those people living with MS will not have to endure the challenges of Trish Langsford, Carole King and sufferers past.”
Heartfelt gratitude to Niall King, Ray Wilson, Geoff Thoroughgood, the Rotary Club of Strathfield, particularly President Arie Pappas, Rod McDougall and Joe Saad and as well, John Leftwich, Jeremy Wright, Richard Bergman, Strathfield Golf Club, the caterers Forte Catering and the event’s generous Hole Sponsors – Newmark Constructions, Joseph P Saad & Co. Solicitors, Strathfield Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank, Charles Pitt and the many generous donors and supporters. You have all contributed to bringing the cure for MS closer, for which the Trish Foundation’s volunteers are extremely grateful.
